Longboat Key
Home

We moved into our Longboat Key condo in February 2001.  It was two units that had been made into one.  Almost every wall was mirrored, the furniture was definitely not our style, it had a 14' bar, and a 20' dining room table - but in the living room.  It definitely needed some work.  In 2003 we attempted a renovation of the entire 5000 square feet - while we were living there!  Trust us when we say that you need to move out first.  That proved to be a disaster in so many ways, we can't bear to think about it.  Then in 2004 we decided to split the unit back into the original two condos.  We renovated the smaller unit during 2004 and sold it in March 2005.  In June 2005, we moved out of the larger unit into the cottage behind our office and started redoing the larger end.  We stripped it down to the concrete and started all over.  We finally got to move into our renovated home on December 21, 2006.  It feels SO good to be home.

The website for our condominium association, Fairway Bay III, is at www.fairwaybay.org, and shows photos of the exterior of the building, pool, etc.  (Cheryl is the main webmaster for the site.)

December 2006 - Condo 645

Here are some initial photos of our newly renovated home - everything but the media room has been completed.  We added a few extra photos of parts of the sound system that is partially working now.  Don't click on the first photo called "album."

July 2007 - Newspaper Article

Everything in the condo has been finished, including the punch lists and the sound system (although a new super-duper headphone system has since been ordered).  Sarasota Herald-Tribune wrote an article about our unit on July 22, which you can see here - http://www.heraldtribune.com/article/20070722/REALESTATE/707220314.  There are a few mistakes in the article, but we understand that there often are.
